Catalina 42 – “Betty”

Betty comes to us straight from the Catalina Yachts Factory in Burbank, CA.  She is the first ever new boat purchased by the program.  Designed as a performance cruiser she offers speed under sail, easy motion and sure predictable handling characteristics.   The Catalina 42 MKII features a modified reverse transom and a step down boarding platform with a fold-down swim ladder.  On deck, Betty is designed with short-handed sailing in mind.  All the halyards, the ball bearing mainsheet and the single line main reefing controls are led to the cockpit.

Below decks, Betty is designed to sleep eight people in four cabins and her spacious salon is an inviting place to learn and spend time with friends.  She features a new Yanmar engine, navigational equipment, sails, winches and a fabulous galley!

This boat is completely outfitted to teach our cruising and near coastal classes, and will be making regular voyages to Catalina and other Channel Islands. Betty was purchased with funds from prior donations to the program.
