Update on COVID-19 and Classes at the OCC School of Sailing & Seamanship

Dear Students and Guests,

All Coast Community College District facilities, including the OCC School of Sailing & Seamanship, remains closed.

This decision was made with care for our community and following guidance and direction from Coast Community College District.

Our office will continue to monitor email and phones, so don’t hesitate to reach out.

We look forward to seeing you at an upcoming class, and as such, class fees for canceled classes will be applied as a voucher to your student account. The voucher can be used to register for future classes.  We will be rescheduling some cancelled classes and updating our schedule for the remainder of the year for when we are able to get back on the water.  If you would prefer a refund, please call or email the school.

We are adding online options so you can continue your boating education from home.  Visit our Online Seminars and Classes page for information about Free and Fee based classes.

The OCC campus in Costa Mesa is closed to students and the public. Please visit www.orangecoastcollege.edu for information about all for-credit classes (enrolled through Orange Coast College).

We currently hope to resume community classes on or about June 22; however, that may be subject to change depending upon the status of the situation.

Please reach out if you have any questions,

Dear Students,

As we’ve continued to follow the latest coronavirus updates and guidance shared with us by the Coast Community College District, we wanted to update you on the steps we are taking to keep the OCC School of Sailing and Seamanship healthy.

The Coast Community College District has provided that courses where online instruction is NOT possible may continue in person. As such, we will continue holding our scheduled courses.

We are taking added precaution in our cleaning routine at our facilities, and encouraging anyone who is sick to stay home.

If you are experiencing symptoms flu-like symptoms, cough, shortness of breath, fever, muscle aches or feel ill and/or have travelled to or through, in the last 14 days, an area identified as a Level 3 Travel Health Notice, it is recommended to stay home. Please call us and we will work with you to reschedule or withdraw you from class.

We ask that all students and staff take part in keeping our community healthy by washing your hands, staying home if you are sick, avoiding close contact with people who are sick, and covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your sleeve.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, we are available to help – please give us a call at 949-645-9412.
