We are hiring seasonal and part-time/temporary positions at OCC Sailing to support the operation of classes and programs. We operate one of the nation’s most comprehensive boating schools, teaching aboard sail and powerboats from 8 to 92 feet. We offer competitive hourly wages and a flexible schedule.

Assistant Sailing Instructors
We are looking for outgoing and enthusiastic individuals to join us as Assistant Sailing Instructors. No prior experience needed, but prior sailing or camp experience preferred. This position supports instruction to beginning-level adult and youth sailing classes. Classes and activities may include (but are not limited to): basic sailing, boat handling, launching and docking, knot tying, basic boat maintenance, rigging/de-rigging boats and stewardship of the marine environment. Other responsibilities include assisting with maintenance of program equipment, set-up at the beginning and end of class.

Camp Counselors
We’re looking for outgoing individuals who enjoy spending time outdoors supporting youth programs. Nor prior experience needed, but prior sailing or camp experience preferred. Camp counselors will teach and supervise camp activities in an aquatic environment. Counselors are responsible for all aspects of camp programs operations including but not limited to supervising and ensuring the safety of campers, teaching and operating camp activities, setting up and cleaning up equipment, and providing outstanding customer service. Camp program activities occur both on land and on / in the water. The primary work will occur during summer; however, camp programming occurs in spring and fall seasons as well.

Camp Support
We’re looking for outgoing and enthusiastic individuals to assist in organizing camp materials, student paperwork, student registrations, sign-in/sign-out, equipment and supplies, and other camp logistics. Camp support employees may also perform dock duties. Nor prior experience needed, but prior boating or camp experience preferred.

Part-time Dockmaster
We’re looking for individuals with prior boating experience to support our classes and programs, assist with rentals and perform basic maintenance. We offer competitive hourly wages and a flexible schedule.

Powerboat Instructor(s)
We’re looking for experienced powerboaters who enjoy people and sharing what they know with others. Prior teaching experience is required, and a US Powerboating Instructor Certification is desired, but not required. Powerboat Instructors teach varying levels of powerboating skills to a wide variety of adult and youth students, including students with disabilities, in a community boating class environment. Duties include classroom and water-based instruction, operation of boats 13’ to 55’, and managing registration and certification paperwork. Must have a passion for boating and the environment. Must have a positive, enthusiastic and flexible attitude. Must possess strong problem-solving skills and an ability to adapt to changing program needs depending on weather, number of students, number of boats, etc.

Registration and Program Support
We are looking for a few sailors and powerboaters who enjoy people, sharing what they know with others, and have great customer service skills to help the registration team in the office this spring and summer. Depending on experience, interest, and program needs, these positions may extend longer. Marine Maintenance Assistant
We’re looking for individuals to support our maintenance team with a variety of routine boat and dock maintenance duties. Duties may include, but are not limited to wash down of boats, wipe down of boat interiors, assist with oil changes and other engine room maintenance tasks, prep and sand surfaces in preparation for varnish and/or paint, clean and repair vessels and facilities following classes and events, trash and recycling management, polish stainless.
No prior boating experience needed, but prior experience with equipment or facility maintenance preferred. We offer competitive hourly wages and a flexible schedule.

Professional Mariner Part-Time Faculty
Orange Coast College is seeking part time faculty to support for-credit USCG courses taught in Newport Beach, CA. Part time faculty provide quality instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines. Part time faculty are responsible for creating and maintaining an environment which emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests and issues.
Opportunities exist for faculty to teach RFPNW using the Bridge Simulator, USCG Masters License (100 Ton) exam preparation, Sailing, and Yacht Keeping & Engine maintenance.
