Nordic Star 

Deckhand – Accepting Applications (position closes February 1, 2020)

Part-time position aboard the 92-foot yacht Nordic Star, chartering to small groups locally, including weekends to Catalina.  Seeking person with professional appearance and attitude.

The deck hand, under general supervision, will provide assistance to the Captain on board Nordic Star. Duties include maintenance of the exterior of the yacht including painting, varnishing, waxing, and maintaining the various water toys aboard which include tenders, SUPs, etc. Additional duties include engine room maintenance, line handling, and interior cleaning and hospitality when guests are aboard.

At times, Nordic Star crewmembers may be assigned duties relating to the school’s fleet of instructional vessels including cleaning, inspecting, and maintenance.  

The Nordic Star is a USCG certified vessel, pre-employment drug testing required. Excellent pay & tips, respectful work environment. Previous experience aboard large yacht preferred.

Sailing and Powerboat Instructor(s)

We’re looking for sailors and powerboaters who enjoy people and sharing what they know with others.  Prior teaching experience is required, and a US Sailing/US Powerboating Instructor Certification is desired, but not required.  A passion for sailing or powerboating is a must!  We operate one of the nation’s most comprehensive boating schools, teaching aboard sail and powerboats from 14 to 92 feet.  We offer competitive hourly wages and a flexible schedule.

USCG Radar and Basic Safety Training Instructor

500 Ton License?  Join our Faculty! Southern California’s premier public boating and seamanship program seeks instructors for a variety of courses including Radar Observer Endorsement and recertifications. Candidate should have teaching experience and be familiar with USCG Radar and Designated Examiner requirements.  Excellent pay.
