Greg Wisner, Manager – Waterfront Campus
Greg joined the Waterfront Campus team in 2021 following a career as a sea-going U. S. Coast Guard Officer who specialized in education and training.
A 1987 graduate of Huntington Beach High School, Greg started his nautical career right next door, sailing aboard the tall ship ARGUS from the Newport Sea Base. In 1991, he followed his passion through to graduation from the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut, homeport of the barque-rigged sail training vessel EAGLE, known as “America’s Tall Ship.” Over the course of his career, Greg spent five years sailing aboard EAGLE and eight years aboard 378-foot and 270-foot Cutters. He trained hundreds of Coast Guard officers in navigation and seamanship. Greg sailed on training cruises and patrols throughout the Pacific and Atlantic including Alaska’s Bering Sea, Gulf of Alaska, Eastern Pacific, Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean.
Greg maintains an unlimited merchant mariner’s license and served as Captain for Sea Education Association aboard brigantines from 2018 through 2022. Aboard these Sailing School Vessels he conducted marine science focused voyages around New Zealand, from Hawaii to Palmyra Atoll, throughout the Caribbean, and in New England waters. Greg continues to be excited about introducing people to the maritime environment.
